Here is a quick tip for an annoying problem you may be currently facing in Facebook. It’s Tagging yeah it can be really annoying when someone tags you in some of his pictures posted on his wall. When these tagging happens all your friends can see that you are tagged on to these images as this image will be displayed on your wall. This was a always a concern when the tagging was introduced. Finally Facebook is addressing these issues and introducing more privacy features.

Tag Review is one among them to monitor the tagging and approve/reject by your wish. By default this feature is in disabled state so in order to make use of this feature you need to enable this feature under the privacy settings. Let’s see how to do that!

Click on the Privacy settings

Click on Edit Settings link on How Tags Work option.

Click on the Off link to see the tagging enable window.

Enable the tagging enabled as you see in the screenshot

That’s it once you click on Enabled all the tagged items will come for review and you can decide whether to approve them or reject them.

With Facebook introducing it’s new Timeline feature; it is time to take a relook at your privacy options. Facebook’s timeline has the ability to expose status updates and wall posts from years ago and yes, you might not like some of your own posts! So make sure that you do not regret activating the Timeline feature on Facebook! Follow some simple steps for this.

Before you activate the Timeline, you might want to see which all information you would want to keep hidden from your timeline. As timeline posts every status update, wall post and photo from the day you joined Facebook you need to know how to regulate your posts.

After you decide to use the timeline feature you get one week when you could make all adjustments to your privacy settings. It is in this time that you need to take many steps before publishing your timeline.

First of all, if you feel there are unknown posts from the past which you do not want all to see, go to private settings of your Facebook account and select ‘limit the Audience for past posts.’ You can enable this option through the bottom of the Privacy settings page of your account.

Secondly, you could also stop certain people from viewing what others have posted on your wall throughout the years. For doing this, what you need to do is go to ‘Edit Settings‘ and then to ‘How you Connect‘. After selecting this option, one needs to select “Who can see posts by others on your timeline?” Then after going to ‘Custom‘ one has to go to the option ‘Hide this from‘, and type the lists of people who want to exclude people from viewing the posts on your walls by others. You could put these people in the Limited Profile List and then just save changes. With the options, these people will not be able to view any of your posts and only your other friends will be able to view your posts.

If you want to choose the more arduous method you can just edit every post manually. Though to manually choose the setting for each of your post and wall updates throughout the years isn’t a very good option in the first place!

Facebook is taking a very cautious approach and thus is making people opt for it on their own will first before making the Timeline a permanent feature. So, concerns of whether people would get to see some photos or videos that one might not like have been raised and measures taken to address it. After all, some photos and videos from your past might even diminish chances of employment if viewed by the prospective employers. So, whether you use timeline by your own will or it’s been imposed upon you by Facebook, you need to take these measures so as to protect your privacy. Hide your old posts, or even feature your wall posts and while posting wall posts make sure who sees your wall posts; doing these are some of the many measures that will help you make control your privacy.

Reports of Facebook’s death are greatly exaggerated. One month after Google’s launch of an impressive social networking site, Google+, many bloggers are not only comparing the two services in OK Corral terms, but some have written the eulogy for Facebook, invoking names like, Netscape Navigator, MySpace and Google Wave. Though Google+ has made a strong initial showing, with a course that, if continued, will surpass both LinkedIn and Twitter in total users within a year, there remains about a 175 million reasons, and more, for holding off on those goodbyes you’d prepared for the social network giant.

One reason not to throw in the towel for Facebook is that it is far from certain that Google+ is trying to compete directly with Facebook. Think about the many sports complexes that host different sports teams whose fan bases overlap in many instances. The introduction of a new football team into a stadium that also features a baseball team is hardly viewed as much of a threat, despite the fact that some baseball fans may become more interested the novelty of the football squad. The fact of the matter is that, judging from current demographics, Google+ users have much more in common with Linkedin account holders than with those of Facebook.

Google+ and LinkedIn have strong followings in certain segments of the overall population. Too large to accurately be called niches, these profiles, technically proficient, educated professionals, heavy on the male side and working in high tech and finance, are among the 25-34 and 35-44 age ranges. Facebook users, however, include much larger percentages and numbers of those not in high tech or finance, many of whom might find Google more technical than they’d like.
Another advantage Facebook has over Google+ is access. To sign on to Google+, a would-be account holder must first establish a Google identity; for Facebook, any e-mail account will do. Facebook’s ease of access to establish an account is not to be overlooked by users trying to trim back their various e-mail accounts, not add to the overall number. As observations about social media burnout seem consistent with a slowdown of new Facebook accounts, that same burnout will also likely affect potential GPlus users who don’t already have a Gmail account, Google+’s primary source for early adopters in the new site.

One more advantage in position for Facebook over Google+ is the time factor. Facebook has time on its side as it can adapt to trends and inroads made by Google+, while at the same time, Google will begin to run into the first, inevitable chinks in their armor as their social media product experiences growing pains. As long as Facebook doesn’t experience any more major gaffes, such as security, privacy or blocking of apps without warning, they can wait for a moment of their choosing to introduce new features, already in the final stages of development, or take advantage of known shortcomings possessed by Google+.

Two features, one already in use and another about to get underway, may change the directions both networking sites steer. One is the current use of Facebook by businesses. With the ability to load company specific applications and link the Facebook page to services and products, FB has a running start on Google+, which does not yet have, or encourage, specialized accounts for businesses.

The second feature Facebook has in the pipeline is a tentative connection to Skype. Plans are to embed a Skype feature on Facebook to add both functionality to the page and develop synergistic advantages between the two services. Google+ already has a similar, and by many accounts, superior feature known as Hangouts, although again, you have to be a Google account holder to join Google+.

Beating Google+ may well turn out to be just another abandoned concept by one year’s time. Facebook already has a commanding position, and even if Google challenges the leader of the social network, FB only has to adjust and not make any major mistakes. The 25 million users now signed up with G+ will grow, taking away millions from Facebook. Some of those crossovers will stay and others will experiment and return to what they know, where their friends are and the program with which they are most familiar. A catastrophe, though, could hasten the demise now being predicted.

Facebook is coming up with more ideas to stay on first place in Social Network. As a part of that strategy they have created a dedicated application for messaging on Facebook. The Facebook social app released for the devices were not doing so good when it comes to messaging. But the Facebook dedicated messenger app released is able to fill that gap. The chatting app works on real time as you experience on the Gtalk.

The app has got a simple and clean design also it supports multiple user messaging and locations mapping etc. Hopefully we can expect a video calling feature on the Facebook messenger. Currently the Facebook Messenger app got support for all the IOS 4.0 above devices and Android devices.

Image Courtesy : Apple App Store

Bottom Line

The app loading time is good it works well. But this app lacks some kind of settings for customizing online/offline users display. I feel the app is missing some basic chat functionalities. For me the app looks like the chat side bar you see on your Facebook page!

Download your Facebook Messenger app for IOS and Android

We have recently heard the announcement from the CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg that Facebook has reached more than 750 million registered users worldwide. The below infographic will give more reasons that how Facebook reached this heights. The research says that the majority of the Facebook users are ranging from 18-34 years old; among 48% of them will check the Facebook as soon as they wake up from the bed. 30% of the users are from USA where 71.2% of the total internet users (Approx. 206.2 million users) are using Facebook. Usage of Facebook has also resulted decreased social interaction in real life. American teenagers claim that they find latest news from the Facebook. Because when you open your Facebook account from Harlywork.in website it will display your profile as an excel spreadsheet. You can fake the people around you that you are working on some excel spreadsheet and they will never knew that you are actually checking your Facebook news feed.

The site came online on last Sunday after 15 hours developing by Mr. Gross. When your profile is loaded you can view the From and To part of users then then number of Likes and Comments earned by the Contents. Also it displays the updated time of every feeds on your profile.

If you click on any link straight away that will take you to the corresponding video or image. Even if you hover on some links it will display a thumbnail view of the same content on the right side bottom of the page.

If you press the spacebar while on this window it will display a different spreadsheet with lot of figures. This is actually a bonus feature of this website to quickly hide the Facebook updates from your spreadsheet window.
