Command Prompt aka CMD.exe is an important tool in Windows operating system. The Command prompt usually used for diagnosis purposes or launching certain tools. For quick example: Most of you must have used a command called IPCONFIG to display the IP Configuration of your computer. So today you are not going to learn these sort of commands but I am going to share a quick tip as how to customize the view of Command Prompt window to match with your Windows 7 theme.

Launch the Command Prompt by entering CMD in Run box.
Now right click on the Title bar and select Properties to see the customization options.

1) Options tab – Here you can change the Cursor Size (The blinking stuff on the Command Window)
2) Font tab – Here you can change the Font Style and Font Size.
3) Layout tab – This is my favorite feature because you can change the width of the Command Prompt Window Size. It is useful when you had to enter lengthy commands. Otherwise the commands will show in two line which wont look good.
4) Colors Tab – You can change the colors of the Background, Text etc.(Try a matrix like style by applying the green color as the Background and Black Color for Screen Text.

I Hope it was helpful!

If you are a power user in Windows 7 and want to run Command Prompt every now and then you probably using the “Run as Administrator” feature for an elevated operation to gain the complete result of a particular command. You can make the Windows 7 to run the Command Prompt always in Administrator mode.

Let’s see how to configure it.

1) Click on s Start and then type in “Command Prompt” inside the Search box.
2) Now right click on the “Command Prompt” and say properties.
3) Now on the Properties window Click on the Advanced button.
4) On the Advanced properties Select “Run as administrator” box
5) Click Ok to apply it.

If you launch the Command Prompt it will by default open in Administrator mode.

Note: Make sure you type in “Command Prompt” in search box. If you type in CMD also you will see the command prompt but you may not see this feature on it to change the mode. But if you enable this feature by typing Command Prompt then if you launch the command prompt by typing CMD it will open up in Administrator mode.
