Mati Aharoni and Emanuele Gentili are known as the Developers of first Backtrack Linux. Mati is an Israeli Network Security Consultant and Emanuele Gentili is now CEO at Tiger Security Srl and a Speaker at Backtrack. Backtrack’s First ever release was on May 2006. The live CD was originated from Two different linux distro called WHAX (A Slax based created by Mati) and Auditor Security Collection (A Knoppix live Distro around 300 Sec-tools By Emanuele).
A great effort made by many security professionals made Backtrack the best linux security distro on earth and it has become friend of penetration testers. Backtrack is now used by Security professionals in National Security Agency and the Central Security Service. January 2010 they have released Backtrack 4 final which is capable of booting from a flash drive. As per the backtrack development team’s announcement Backtrack 5 is likely to be released on February 2011. Backrack is the only Sec-tool developed to be avail for commercially and freely which resulted more than 3 million downloads.
