Gmail Offline feature they have realeased in Google Labs as an experimental. It is quite useful feature when your business is depends up on Google mail or if you are power Gmail user were Gmail is essential in your daily life. Once Gmail feature is enabled you can access your archived emails or mailboxes from anywhere without having a network connection even you can compose a mail offline and it will sync the mailbox and sent it once there is a network connection is availbale. It is just like you working on the Microsoft Outlook. Google uses an open source application called Gears which is capbale of creating an offline copy of the web application. If you are a Google Chrome user you do not require the Gears since the features is added in Google Chrome, but for Internet Explorer 7.0 +, Mozilla Firefox 2.0 +, Safari requires the Gears to be installed to access the Gmail offline.
Enabling this feature is very simple.
1. Go to Settings tab in Gmail. Click on Offline tab then select the radio button to “Enable Offline mail for this Computer” and save the changes to begin the setup.
(If the multiple signin option is enabled on this mailbox Gmail Offline will not work so make sure you disable multiple sessions it before begin the setup.)
2. The below screenshot will prompt to install the Gears to enable the Offline Gmail.
3. After installing Gear close reopen the browser and login to gmail then select the Download options and select the Recent Messgae Date to download.
4. Proceed with Allow and let the Gmail create an offline copy on the local computer.
5. Select shortcut options to be created for Offline mail and click OK. (Even when the connection is offline you can type gmail.com on the browser to navigate to the Gmail offline.)
6. The Gmail Offline syncronization will take few minutes or even hours depends your data on the mailbox.
The Download option is fully customizable were you can specify Attachment Size, Date Range, Specify to download on the basis of Label.
